J. K. Rowling

J. K. Rowling is a well known writer and a former teacher. Her full name is Joanne Kathleen Rowling and she was born in Yate at the 31st of July of 1965.
During a period of her live when she was a teacher she came to Portugal to teach English at the Encounter English. During that time she shared a flat with two other teachers, she even dedicated a book to them. When she was in our country she met a man called Jorge Arantes, they got married and they had a child but their marriage was stormy and they got divorced after some time.
When Joanne came back to the United Kingdom she went to Leith a neighborhood in the Scottish capital, where she lived with the help of the government. She usually went to a bar called Nicolson´s to write the manuscripts of Harry Potter.
During all of this time she had been writing Harry Potter and when she tried to publish it, but no one wanted it between 8 to 12 refused it. Until she sent it to the Bloomsbury publisher that accepted it.
The first book of the Harry Potter collection was the Philosopher´s stone and it was released at the 30th of July of 1997. The first edition of the book was a very small 1000 books and half of them went to libraries so only 500 reached the book shelf, however since the beginning the book was between the top sellers.

J. K. Rowling is linked to many association some like MS Society Scotland (that helps people with multiple sclerosis), National Council for one Parent Families (Helps single parents), and for Comic Relief (fights poverty). Because of this action she received many awards some like:                                                                                      
-Officer of the British Empire (she is now Lady J.K.Rowling)                                              
 -Knight of the order of the legion of Honor (assigned by the prime-minister of France)

  3. Although I am not a Harry Potter fan, I do admire J.k.Rowling, for her telent as a writer and for the causes she helps.
    In my opinion your text was very interesting, I didn't know she had lived in Portugal.
